Parent Meetings

Financial Aide night

BCHS Families,

Believe it or not, it is time to start thinking about next year and scheduling options for your student.

We have parent and student meetings scheduled in February to begin this process. We will be reviewing graduation requirements and other scheduling options for your student for next school year at these meetings. Here are some parent meetings that are coming up:

Wednesday, February 3 – Incoming Freshmen Parent Meeting – 6:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium. This is for parents of current 8th grade students. Current 8th graders will also be coming to the high school on this day for their incoming freshmen orientation session.

Thursday, February 4 – Class of 2017 (Current Juniors) Parent meeting – 6:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

Tuesday, February 9 – Class of 2018 (Current Sophomores) Parent Meeting – 6:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

There is also a meeting on February 9th at 7:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium for any current sophomore parent who is interested in learning more about the Bullock Creek Early College Program. This is the program where a student takes college level classes at Delta College along with high school level classes and then commits to a 5th year of high school in which their student will take additional college level classes at Delta College. Students in 10th grade this year are eligible to apply for this program and would begin the Early College Program starting their Junior Year. If your student is currently a freshman, you are welcome to attend the meeting to learn about the program but your student could not apply until their sophomore year.

If you cannot attend a parent session, the power point presentation will be made available to you. You can always also speak with a counselor or administrator about this process.

Attached is a flyer with information about a workshop called “Financing Your Student’s Education with Scholarships and Financial Aide.” In the past this was called Financial Aide Night. There is a session being held at Bullock Creek High School on Thursday, February 11. This is open for parents and students of any grade level. There will be an informational session and then our computer lab will be available for seniors and their parents to work on completing the FAFSA process. If you plan on working on the FASFA at this workshop, please contact Jennifer Brown at brownj@bcreek.org to reserve a computer. Also please refer to the flyer on what type of information you would need to bring to help complete the FAFSA application. If you cannot attend the workshop at Bullock Creek High School on February 11, there are other dates on the flyer that are open to any resident of Midland County.

Bullock Creek Staff will be meeting with current 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students during the school day on February 8th to go over scheduling choices for next school year. Students should be bringing scheduling sheets home to you for a signature and then they are returned to the school by February 11.

Correctly choosing courses students are interested in taking is a very important step in the scheduling process for next year. It will help to determine what courses we can offer at the high school. There are also many deadlines students need to meet if they are interested in any of the off campus programs.

If you have any questions about this process, please contact me at gorsucht@bcreek.org or at 989-631-2418 ext. 1505.

Thanks,

Todd M. Gorsuch, Principal
