9-23-16 Pine River – Truancy Information

Dear Parents/Guardians,
I would like to share with you the protocol of the Midland County/Bullock Creek Truancy guidelines and expectations.
Midland County schools, including Bullock Creek, follow the guidelines for truancy as set forth by the Midland County Probate and Family Court.  Both organizations want to stress the importance of education and good attendance.
Let me share a few important pieces of information regarding truancy you may not be aware of…
*In order for an absence to be EXCUSED we must have a doctor’s note.
*Tardies matter.  FIVE tardies will count as a full day absent.
As a parent, you must make the call on whether or not your child is sick enough to stay home but it is important to know the guidelines under which the schools must operate.
I’m attaching a letter Judge Allen has written to parents explaining the process through the eyes of the court.   She has done a wonderful job explaining the process, please take a moment to read her letter.
As always, if you have any questions regarding absences feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Debra Bradford
