Dear Parents,
As part of our dedication to the safety and well-being of all of our children in the Bullock Creek School District, we annually review and revise our emergency procedures. With the assistance of the Midland County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police and the Midland County Emergency Management Office we discuss scenarios and make appropriate action plans.
One of our required drills involves the practicing of “locking down” the building in the event of an intruder or other threat to the safety of the school community. The teachers and students have been trained and know their role in the scenario. Yesterday Pine River Elementary school did conduct a lock-down drill to assure that we are operating at optimal effectiveness. While every effort is made to assure children that this is “only a test,” we wanted to directly communicate with you in case your child comes home talking about the drill. We thank you for your continued support of our school programs. Please rest assured that the issue of student safety is our top priority.
In the future, if you do happen to arrive at school during a drill, please understand that until the drill is completed, the doors will remain locked.
