Pine River Families of Fifth Grade Students,
This week begins our state required testing of fifth grade students. The M STEP is a state-wide assessment that is given to all 3rd – 8th grade students. The assessment window for fifth grade students is April 9 – May 4. The fifth grade teachers will begin the English Language Arts assessment Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Next Tuesday and Wednesday, the Math assessment will be given. On May 1st and 2nd, Social Studies and Science will complete the testing.
Teachers have been preparing the students for the assessment. There is an on line practice for the students to familiarize them with the mechanics of taking the on line assessment and the students have gone through that practice.
What you can do to help:
- make sure your child has enough sleep on the days of testing
- provide a good breakfast (most assessments will occur in the morning)
- be sure your child gets to school on time
- encourage your child to do his/her best
I have attached a document – Student Testing: What Parents Can Do to Help Students Prepare. This is just some basic information for you. If you have any questions regarding M STEP, please let your child’s teacher know or feel free to reach out to me. Any of us would be happy to answer questions.
Sincerely,
Debra Bradford
