BCHS Announcement 11/7/19

November 7, 2019

Creekers for a Cause has a meeting tomorrow morning at 7:20 am.

Attention HERO members… There will not be a meeting tomorrow.  However, our next meeting will feature a guest speaker!  Plan to attend and take part in an interesting conversation!

The Comedy Blitz is happening this Saturday at 8:00 pm in the Auditorium. There will be 5 comedians from Chicago here to entertain you, your friends and family. General Admission Tickets are still available and the price goes up the day of the show, so order them online now at bcauditorium.ludus.com.

Student Council’s fall elections have officially begun! Packets can be picked up NOW from Mrs. DuBois’s room, 8B, and are due back to her by 3:00 pm on Monday, November 11th. There are spots to be filled in every class, so make sure to stop by and see how you can be a voice, not an echo!

Just a REMINDER – Picture retakes will be NEXT Wednesday, November 13th. Please bring your original pictures with you to return.

Hey Seniors and Juniors.  On Thursday, November 14th a representative from Delta College will be here at 11:30.  Sign up in the counseling office if you would like to meet with her.

Attention all Seniors…this year’s MHSAA Scholar-Athlete scholarship is now available. If you are interested, applications are now available on-line. Please see Mrs. Brown or Mr. Badour for the access code to apply or with any questions. Deadline for submitting the applications is Friday, December 6th.

We would like to congratulate the 6 teams whose Problem-Solving Projects have been chosen to move forward to Phase 2 of the A.H. Nickless Innovation Award Competition. They will be competing with 14 other teams from area schools in April. The top 3 teams will receive scholarship money along with money for their chosen STEM project in the school.

Good afternoon Lancers! Next week is #kindnessweek and Creekers for a Cause is ready to celebrate with an amazing spirit week!

Monday is Dream of Kindness and you get to wear comfy and cozy pjs! Free hot cocoa and donut holes will be available in the morning before school!

Tuesday is Superhero Day because you are all your own heroes!

Wednesday is World Kindness Day so we are asking that you wear purple and orange to represent non violence.

Thursday is Ride the Kindness Wave so pull out your summer beach outfits. (Remember our school dress code).

Friday is Glow with Kindness day, so wear your best neon!

LUNCH TOMORROW: Stuffed Crust Pizza or Hot Sandwich Choice, Variety of Fresh Vegetables and Fresh or Canned Fruit.

And now and announcement from Project 111…

When your car is covered with snow, please clear off Car Completely and allow extra time to get to your destination.

  • If snow has fallen since your car was parked, take the time to thoroughly brush it off the vehicle–including the roof–and scrape any ice from the windows. “Peephole driving” through a small, cleared spot on your windshield reduces your visibility and is quite dangerous.

We would also like everyone to Slow Down when there is inclement weather!

Speed Limits are set for ‘Ideal Road Conditions’.  That means when the roads are snowy or icy (or even wet) going the speed limit is most likely not ‘ideal.’

  • Reduce your speed and drive smoothly. In slippery conditions, tires lose their grip more easily, affecting all aspects of your driving: braking, turning, and accelerating. Keeping the speeds down will give you more time to react to slippage or a possible collision, and it will lessen the damage should things go wrong.
  • Don’t let four- or all-wheel drive give you a false sense of security. 4WD and AWD systems only provide extra traction when accelerating. They provide no advantage when braking or cornering.
