9/20/21 – Midland Basketball Academy Basketball Leagues

Registration (Select basketballs for registration) for the Midland Basketball Academy’s 2nd-6th Grades Youth Basketball Leagues at the Greater Midland Community Center has begun, and we need your help!

We are both excited and eager for the MBA basketball leagues to resume where we left off in 2020. Before our season begins, we are hoping to get the word out to all of your students. Youth sports are a great way for students to grow and develop in their health and fitness, teamwork skills and confidence.

We are asking if you can help us spread the news! Please help us spread the word by posting the attached flyer at your school, it would be much appreciated.

The registration deadline is October 1. For an early bird savings of $20, children must register by the end of the day on Friday, September 24. Beyond player registration needs, we are also searching for volunteer coaches. Please see the specifics below on the MBA season and important dates for the season, as well as an attached document that can be used as advertisement for this program.

This league will include a 10-12 game season and a weekly team practice.  From first time players to experienced veterans, there is a place for everyone in this league.

Players will receive an MBA shirt and use of an MBA jersey (to be returned upon completion of the season).

Players will be divided into leagues by grade.  Grades 4-6 will play 12 5 on 5 full court games.  Grades 2-3 will play 10 4 on 4 cross court games.

Registration Dates: September 1-24, 2021               $105

September 25 – October 1, 2021          Additional $20 Late Fee (Registration only permitted if capacity permits)

Game Schedules:  League games will operate November 6, 2021 – January 29, 2022.  Games will be played on Saturdays, with the potential for 2-3 Friday games.

Please note that we try to accommodate team scheduling in relation to other major community events.  Due to the large number of players/teams we serve, it is not possible to avoid all schedule conflicts.

The league will not schedule games during Thanksgiving weekend, nor Midland Public Schools Winter Break.

Practice Schedules:  Each team will be scheduled for a one hour weekly practice at a local school gym.  Practice will begin the week of Monday, October 25, 2021.

Team Rosters:  Players, who register individually, will be placed on a team with other boys/girls in the same grade, from the same school/neighborhood.  Schools with not enough players will be combined with other schools.

Volunteer Coaches:  Any parent interested in coaching can sign-up during registration.  There is a Mandatory Coach’s Meeting on Wednesday, October 13 at 6:30pm in the Barstow-Shipps Wing of the Midland Community Center.

All volunteer coaches must complete and pass a criminal background check.

We also organize a league for the younger children too! Our information about the Junior Basketball League can be seen below. If this information could also be communicated to your students, it would be greatly appreciated.
