SCOOP

Search for cards that make 10 and scoop them up.  Whoever finds the most 10’s wins.

Deck: number cards only

Players: 2 – 3

Skills: Reasoning, logic, adding to make 10.

Set Up: Lay out 20 cards face up in four rows of five cards in each row.  Put the rest aside to make a draw pile.

How to play:

  • Take turns.  On your turn, search for any cards that make 10 when added together (example: 5, 4, and 1). Scoop up those cards, and have opponent check that they really add up to 10.  Draw cards from the draw pile to replace any you scooped up.
  • Play until no one can make 10.
  • Player with the most groups that make 10 wins.

Harder Version: Include wild cards.  A wild card can be worth any value from 0 to 10.

1. CAPTURE CARDS

Compare cards. Highest number wins. (Similar to “War.”)

Deck: number cards only

Players: 2 – 3

Skills: counting, comparing, (challenge: adding or multiplying)

Set Up: Deal the cards evenly to each player (face down).  Players stack their cards in a pile (face down).

How to play:

  • On each round, players:

Flip over the top card.  The player with the highest number takes the cards played.

  • Tie: Set aside the cards played.  On the next round, the player with the highest number takes those cards too.
  • Play until the piles are used up.  The player with the most cards wins.

Harder Version: Each player flips over two cards and adds them OR multiplies them.  The player with the highest total takes the cards played.
