BCHS News and Notes

College Application Week-1 Casino at My Alibi Career Fair 2014

BCHS Families,
Next week we will be holding our Fall Parent Teacher Conferences at Bullock Creek High School. Below is our schedule:
Tuesday, October 21 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, October 23 from 3:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
I hope you will be able to attend one of the above days for parent teacher conferences to meet your child’s teachers and discuss grades. I know many of you do check Skyward’s Family Access to review your child’s grades but I do think meeting your student’s teachers is also important. There are many things that take place in a classroom that you can’t get by just looking at a grade in a computer.
The Sports Boosters is presenting a “Casino Event” this Saturday, October 18th.  Tickets starting at $25 – please see the attachment for more details.
Bullock Creek High School will once again be having its annual Talent Show on November 13. Does your student dance? Or can they sing? Do they play an instrument, recite poetry or do magic tricks? If your student has some talent that they would like to show off, students can come to the informational meeting for this year’s talent show on Tuesday, October 21st at 2:45 in the auditorium. If a student cannot attend the meeting, they need to see Ms. Doud in room 2A.
The Young Entrepreneurs Academy offered at Northwood University is a great opportunity for students interested in a business career.  YEA students will become business owners by brainstorming a business idea, writing a business plan, developing a brand identity, creating a website, filing the business with government agencies, pitching to investors, obtaining funding, and actually selling their product or service!  Participants start the program as students and finish as CEO’s of their own REAL business.  No previous business experience or current business idea is required to apply – YEA! will walk you through it all.  Pick up an application in the Career Center.
Attached is information on the following events taking place at BCHS on November 4:
            1. College Application Week – Bullock Creek High School will be participating in
a state-wide initiative called College Application Week.   Our goal is to help all
seniors further develop a post-secondary plan.  If you have a senior, please
check out the attachment about the activities planned on this day.
            2. Career Fair – Bullock Creek High School will feature a mini career fair,
Tuesday, November 4th, from 8:00-11:00.  Students in grades 9th-11th will have
the opportunity to learn firsthand what it takes to meet their own career goals
from the experts themselves. Checkout the attachment for more details.
On Monday, October 27, there will be a meeting for all Seniors. At this meeting, information will be handed out about ordering cap and gowns and other graduation information. Look for information coming home with your student on this day. Orders will be placed on Friday, October 31.
