BCHS News and Notes – November 6, 2015

BCHS Families:
Welcome to November, although with the weather it has not seemed like November. I am sure that will change very quickly in Michigan.
The Bullock Creek High School Theater will be performing “James and the Giant Peach” this weekend. Show times are Friday at 7:00 p.m., Saturday at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door. I hope you get the opportunity to come see our students perform.
Congratulations to our Cross Country members who have qualified for the State Finals this Saturday in Brooklyn, Michigan.  They are Marissa Lashuay, Brennen Mudd, and Spencer Waldmann. Good luck at States!
Winter sports season is just around the corner. Girls Basketball and Competitive Cheer practice begins on November 9. Boys Basketball and Wrestling practice begins on November 16.  We are still looking at starting the Bowling Club and more details will be provided to those students who signed up. Reminder that for a student to participate on any high school sports team (event to try-out), they must have a valid sports physical on file with the school. If a student is still interested in trying out for a winter sports team, he or she may stop in the athletic office to get more information. The school is always looking for volunteers to help at basketball games with things such as operating the score clock, keeping the scorebook, or taking tickets. If you would be interested in helping with one of these activities, please contact our Athletic Director, Mr. Tim O’Rourke.

On Thursday, November 12, the Counseling Staff will be holding an FSA (Federal Student Aid) ID Creation night in the Bullock Creek High School Media Center at 6:00pm. This is for seniors who are interested in attending a college or university after graduation. The FSA ID– a username and password– has replaced the Federal Student Aid PIN.  It confirms your identity when you access your student’s financial aid information and electronically sign the Federal Student aid documents.  Mrs. Brown and Mr. Bonello will be available to assist 12th grade students and parents in setting up their accounts as well as provide a little bit more information about college affordability and other events taking place in the community this coming winter!  Let’s get ready for FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) together!  Any senior that will be completing the FAFSA will need a FSA ID.

The Midland County Road Commission will be holding an informational meeting in the Bullock Creek High School cafeteria on Tuesday, November 24th from 4-6pm to discuss road improvements for Gordonville and Badour roads near their intersection by the high school.

Remember that there is no school on Wednesday, November 25, Thursday, November 26, and Friday, November 27.

As always, if you have any questions, please contact me at gorsucht@bcreek.org or at 989-631-2418 ext. 1505.

Thanks,

Todd M. Gorsuch, Principal

Bullock Creek High School
